Security Analysis 股票分析 (1)

2010年9月16日, 我从亚马讯网上 (Amazon.com) 订购了我觉得我如果想认真投资, 就非看不可的一本书. 这是一本巴菲特师傅生前非常出名的一本著作, 名为, Security Analysis: Sixth Edition, by Benjamin Graham & David L. Dodd, Foreword by Warren Buffett. 

为何我会从网上订购而不到书局买呢?
其实, 我有到书局看看, 大众书局, MPH 书局, Kinokuniya 书局, Borders 书局, 我跑遍了, 不是没有现货, 就是价格很高. 书价是 RM300, Borders 书局最离谱, 卖 RM360.

结果给我从亚马讯网上订购, 包括从美国邮寄过来马来西亚的邮费, 才不过 RM180多. 唯一的问题, 就是必须等大约3到4个星期. 等就等, 可以省那么多, 我当然愿意等.

话说当年1950年左右, 年幼的巴菲特因为看了 Benjamin Graham 和 David L. Dodd 一起在1934年合著的这本书后, 对股票分析非常痴迷, 还特地报名进入 Columbia University 去追随这两位在 Columbia University 当职的教授学习.

1934年出版后, 这本书先后再版了六次, 也成为了美国经济学必修的课本之一. 这再版的书跟原版的唯一分别就是, 再版的加入了更多今时今日的真实例子, 请了很多同样追随 Benjamin Graham 和 David L. Dodd 所教导的股票分析研究模式的投资专家来给意见及解释. 当中, 最特出最成功的投资者, 非巴菲特末属.

巴菲特就是现今社会, 一位完全追随 Benjamin Graham 和 David L. Dodd 所教导的股票分析研究模式, 最成功, 最富有, 活生生的例子. 如果巴菲特都说就是这本书让他学会如何分析研究股票, 并投资成功, 而你想像巴菲特那样投资成功却又不看这本书, 实在讲不过去, 对吧?

巴菲特说1940年第二版的那本, 就是他1950年上 Columbia University 所读的, 他至少看了4遍, 后来 David L. Dodd 的女儿又把她老爸做笔记在1934年第一版本准备出版1940年第二版本的手抄本送给了他, 所以, 想想, 巴菲特应该是读了很多遍, 应该滚瓜烂熟了...

我不敢讲已经完全吸收, 也不敢妄言自己已经无师自通...
其实, 我用了好些时间来消化这本书的内容, 你看我买书的日期, 再看看我写这部落格的日期, 就知道我用了多久... 老实讲, 到今天, 我还没看完...

可能我悟性底, 功夫底子差, 酱好料的"全坤大那移"交到我手上, 也顶多是当枕头而已.
不满你说, 我就曾捧着这书当枕头睡不懂多少个月亮. (^.^)

基本上, 这本 Security Analysis: Sixth Edition, by Benjamin Graham & David L. Dodd, Foreword by Warren Buffett 可以分成9个部分来开始阅读.

第一个部分, 大约70面, 请了巴菲特留言2页; 世界闻名投资经理 Seth A. Klarman 为这第六版做简单介绍, 共28页; Benjamin Graham 和 David L. Dodd 介绍为何会出版这书和第二版的出现又为何, 共4页; James Grant 分享一些历史的背景, 共35页. 如果你怕闷, 可以直接跳过第一部分.

接着, 才进入本书的精华.
也是本书的 PART I: SURVEY AND APPROACH 
这部分, 一开始就告诉我们分析研究的不足之处, 和如何着手分析
如何分辨股价与内在潜在价值.
(Chapter 1: The Scope and Limitations of Security Analysis. The Concept of Intrinsic Value).
就因为我们永远无法知道我们分析的内在潜在价值是否正确, 我们所计算出来的内在潜在价值只能供我们做参考. 书上这么说, "The essential point is that security analysis does not seek to determine exactly what is the intrinsic value of a given security. It needs only to establish either that the value is adequate - eg., to protect a bond or to justify a stock purchase - or else that the value is considerably higher or considerably lower than the market price.
书中说, 股票分析家基本上面对三个问题, 其一, 资料的完整性及准确性; 其二, 对未来的不确定; 其三, 市场的不理性.

再来, 书中有提到, 我们绝对不可以依赖专家所发表的分析研究报告来做我们的投资抉择.
基本上, 本书例了4个论点为何我们不可以用专家的分析研究来投机.
1. The payment of commissions and interest charges, the so-called "turn of the market" (meaning the spread between the bid and asked price), and, most important of all, an inherent tendency for the average loss to exceed the average profit, unless a certain technique of trading is followed, which is opposed to the analytical approach.
买卖的交易费通常都没有在分析研究时纳入为考量的因素之一, 往往亏多过赚.
2. The underlying analytical factors in speculative situations are subject to swift and sudden revision. The danger, already referred to, that the intrinsic value may change before the market price reflects that value, is therefore much more serious in speculative than in investment situations.
分析研究时通常都会假设某某因素为固定不变的, 但是万一改变了, 所分析的内在潜在价值也就变了. 危险就在于分析不是你做的, 所以你不知道什么因素改变了, 而是否有影响了内在潜在价值?
3. The difficulty arises from circumstances surrounding the unknown factors, which are necessarily left out of security analysis.
分析家可能基于某些原因, 或是粗心, 把某些重要因素忽略了, 而影响了分析的结果.
4. The value of analysis diminishes as the element of chance increases.
分析研究的价值会随着时间的流逝而乏值.
